Michael Schur was inspired to make "A Man On the Inside" after watching the Chilean documentary "Agent of the Mole"
Story
Retired Charles gets a new lease on life when he answers a private detective’s ad and becomes a mole in a nursing home. He says, "Agent of the Mole" the documentary is powerful because it makes people of any age, ethnicity, or gender feel something very similar, and I would describe that feeling in a very reductive way: «I have to call my mom.» We tried to do something similar with our show with the tone: Does our show make you call your moms?
I liked it!
It’s a remake of El agente topo (2020). What I expected was a comedy full of clichés about someone in hiding, the antics of a crazy person & etc.
However, it wasn’t serious enough to make you feel depressed or bored while enjoying the episodes, but kept watching the series
Instead we get a series about a man who not only helped others but also helped himself heal after losing his wife. This great series wasn’t all cheeky laughs and giggles; odd lines, I felt very emotional at times because of the topics they dealt with – like the resident with memory problems.
Who stole it etc
It was worth it because you wanted to see how it went. The acting in the feature film was excellent, the cinematography & locations are well done.
