LOST surpassed TV drama writing and embraced the subject matter when it hit the scene in 2004. Seriously. Jack, Kate, Saywer, Hugo, Locke, Sayid, and yes, even Benjamin Linus’ storylines were crafted like few others have since.

My then-16-year-old son said it was the best written show of its time, and now that he’s 30 and a writer himself, he’s kept his commitment to this day: all other shows follow in LOST’s shadow
